Description
The Active IT Society based in Terenure Enterprise Centre has found a “Novel” way to address the funding shortfalls to their computer society. To maintain their affordable computer training for older people, these active seniors are doing it for themselves by publishing their own work in a new book, Ireland: The Dawning Of the Day.
The Active IT Society has a dynamic creative writing group facilitated by local Knocklyon man, Rick Quinn. This group have compiled an atmospheric, nostalgic, & heart-warming compilation of their own original pieces, along with special additions from guest writers like Ian O’Doherty and John Lonergan, to create a unique book of memoirs, short stories and poems. All profits from the book will be returned to the society to ensure its continuation and expansion of its ICT training into outreach training programme for those over 55 in the community with limited mobility.
The society, based in Terenure Enterprise Centre and operating since 2007, offers affordable computer training for over 55s. It is delighted with the community response, as over 100 books have been pre-sold. This book will ensure the continuity of IT training for older people from across south Dublin.
‘Ireland: The Dawning of The Day’ is an eclectic mix of poetry and prose. There are memories from days of yore, a meeting with Samuel Beckett, biographies and other flights of fancy. In fact, it’s an anthology that is bursting at its seams with surprises and delights. Dip in, you won’t be disappointed.’
