Description

2015, Saint Helena Writing Group

St Helena is the remotest inhabited island in the world and most famous for Napoleon Bonaparte’s captivity and death there. This book is a  collection of Saint Helenian poems and stories from twenty three contributors, compiled and edited by the Creative Saint Helena writing group. Many of the stories and poems are in local dialect, written by Saints, for Saints and those who enjoy its culture.

“Having visited the island of St Helena I knew I had to buy this book as soon as I saw it. I especially enjoyed the pieces written in dialect, and those which provided an insight into days gone by. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of some of the pieces of writing in this book; surely an achievement for a place which is probably the most isolated inhabited spot on this planet and which has barely 5000 souls living there?  If you have ever visited St Helena, had any connection with its peoples or just wish that you had then I would suggest you read this book and lock down this time in history before it is gone forever.”
